Configuring the Workflow Subscriber

Once installed, the Workflow Subscriber must be configured. Install the Workflow Server before configuring the Subscriber.

To configure the Workflow Subscriber

1. Open the Workflow Subscriber Configuration Utility under Start, All Programs, Laserfiche, Workflow 8.0.
2. Click Next in the opening step.
3. In the Workflow Subscriber Logon step, specify a Windows account for the Subscriber to log on as. If all primary components are installed on the same machine, select Local System Account. Otherwise, specify a domain account that has sufficient rights to access and modify the Workflow Server computer, Laserfiche Servers, and repositories you want to use. Click Next.
4. In the Workflow Database step, configure the DBMS the Workflow Subscriber should use. This step in the wizard will differ depending on whether you are using Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database.
   
   
• Microsoft SQL Server: Specify the SQL server and database, as well as authentication credentials. Click Next.

Note: The database you specify should not be the same one used by a Laserfiche repository. Also, you can choose to have the Workflow Server and Subscriber share the same database, or use separate databases.

Note: The SQL server name will be different depending on the SQL instance. For example, <servername>\SQLExpress for Express 2005, <servername>\Laserfiche for Desktop Engine (MSDE), or servername for Server 2000 or 2005.

Note: For Windows Authentication, ensure the server login specified in the previous step has permission to access the DBMS. If you specify a different login, ensure the account specified has full rights to the DBMS.

• Oracle Database: Specify the Oracle server, schema, and password (this does not have to be the same schema your Laserfiche repository uses). Click Next.

  Note: The Oracle Database user/schema must already be in place, with the appropriate roles/privileges granted. More info.

  Note: The user/schema you specify should not be the same one used by a Laserfiche repository. Also, you can choose to have the Workflow Server and Subscriber share the same user/schema, or use separate users/schemas.

5. In the Laserfiche Repositories Settings step, click Add.
6. In the Laserfiche Repository dialog box, configure the server, repository, and login information for the Laserfiche repository you want to use.

   Note: Workflow 8 will only interact with repositories that have been added here. Once added, the repository will appear in the Workflow Administration Console's User Sources node.

7. In the Choose Workflow Server step, specify the name of the computer hosting your Workflow Server.
8. In the summary step, review your settings and click Finish. A success screen will appear if the Subscriber was successfully started.
